Yesterday was a beautiful day here and so I decided to walk back home from work. Walking to work is always easy every morning as it is a steady decent downward and takes about as long as it does to take the bus. The walk back is not quite as fun but it is definitely more rewarding. I walked home, through the park and up the hill crisscrossing the streets to break the incline a bit here and there. It really is the last push towards my apartment that is kind of killer and in the end I made it home. It was a nice way to end the day and I will make an effort to do it more often.

So I went on a trip for work like over a month ago and then caught the plague and then recovered from said plague and then didnt get back to doing this until today. That being said I will declare Day 1 again. I picked up where I left off though and tried to conquer the dances of the 90’s. I am 5 stars away from doing the Macarena and moving on. Sadly my dance skills are not so good when it comes to these songs so I was only able to scrounge up 1 star getting me to 4 stars away. This means of the 4 songs I have to dance to I need to score a 4 in all of them or a 5 in one letting me stay at a 3 in another or some other exchange of awesome dancingness. I grew tired of dancing and sucking to Ice Ice Baby and Ain’t 2 proud 2 beg so I jumped to the open song options and picked up a bunch of random songs. It was good to get back at it. I ended on Firework by Katy Perry which is the song I leave you with today.

“Firework”

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep six feet under?
Scream but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you
‘Cause there’s a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

You don’t have to feel like a wasted space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it’s time you’ll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through-ough-ough

‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

02-stairs

So I take the stairs at my office. Like I said before we are are 4 floors spread out in a 9 story building. Floors 4,5,7, and 9 to be specific. I was on the 4th floor but a recent change in positions and reorganization of the floors and now I am on the 9th. I remain committed to taking the stairs even if that means a 9 floor trek up every morning. Also discourages me from eating out at lunch even more. Today was my first morning on the 9th and I thought I might die but I survived to write this. So we will see.

I took a day off because I have been slammed at work but today I jumped back into the 90’s in search of the dance craze. So in addition to Ice Ice Baby, I got to dance to Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg by TLC, Everybody (Backstreets Back) by Backstreet Boys, and Now that We’ve Found Love by Heavy D. I have found the hidden moves which I believe will reveal the Macarena. Sadly my dance skills of the 90’s aren’t quite up to snuff so I will be grinding on this for a bit. I will leave you with the sweet sweet words of T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chili’s Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg:

Yo mic check 1-2, 1-2
We in the house
Yeah come on
1992 TLC kickin’ off in your Mutha…
So ya best be duckin’ fast
Yo T-Boz is ya being a boss
Chilli what’s up wit’ dat sauce?
Dis is it
Yo “T” step on that (shhh)

I ain’t 2 proud, I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg
Thinkin’ short of what you got
Better get it while it’s hot
Ain’t no better love than your own
Unmistakin’ urge 2 be sexin’ with society
How can you be happy alone

[Bridge:]
When I need 2 feel love
Why wait 4 so long
Cause I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg
4 something that I call my own
And I want 2 be touched
And feeling so much see cause
Everybody needs some good lovin’

[Chorus:]
Yo if I need it in the morning or the middle of the night
I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg (no)
If the lovin’ is strong then he got it goin’ on and
I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg (no)
2 inches or a yard rock hard or if it’s saggin’
I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg (no)
So it ain’t like I’m braggin’ just join the paddywagon cause
I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg, I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg

Screaming’ loud and holdin’ sheets
Scsared that you’ll be called a freak
Gotta let it go while you can
Ain’t 2 proud 2 beg you see
Cause my man belongs 2 me
And I know that he understands

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

Yo Left Eye kick that rap

Realize the realism of reality treats
Us both the same
Cause satisfaction is the name of this game
So I choose to explain it’s evident
Left Eye don’t mean the rest of my body is irrelevant
In outher words let’s refresh your head
About pullin’ down curtains and breakin’ da waterbed
Yeah I like it when you (kiss)
Both sets of lips
Oooh on the TLC tip

I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg (I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg)
What I call my own
Just you and me (uh)
Heyyyyyyy

[Bridge]

[Chorus]

I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg
TLC isn’t 2 proud 2 beg
I ain’t 2 proud 2 beg (no)

Let the Music Play was the secret holder of my last two moves. Who knew how hard step to the side, step to the side, clap, and step back could be? Or really how uncoordinated I am in regards to stepping to the side and clapping. But after rehearsing the same move like fifty times I got it in my next try of the song. This unlocked the hidden Craze of the era which was….. The Electric Slide. Dear god do I suck at that song. Thankfully being good at that song doesn’t stop you from progressing forward. So I moved on to the 90’s where I was greeted with a House Party! My first song of the 90’s was Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby. I concluded my session with that song and so I will conclude this post with the Lyrics:

Yo, VIP, let’s kick it!

Ice ice baby
Ice ice baby
All right stop
Collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Then I flow that a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop?
Yo, I don’t know
Turn off the lights and I’ll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle

Dance
Bum rush the speaker that booms
I’m killin’ your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly, when I play a dope melody
Anything less that the best is a felony
Love it or leave it
You better gain way
You better hit bull’s eye
The kid don’t play
If there was a problem
Yo, I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla

Now that the party is jumping
With the bass kicked in, the Vegas are pumpin’
Quick to the point, to the point no faking
I’m cooking MC’s like a pound of bacon
Burning them if they’re not quick and nimble
I go crazy when I hear a cymbal
And a hi hat with a souped up tempo
I’m on a roll and it’s time to go solo
Rollin in my 5.0
With my ragtop down so my hair can blow
The girlies on standby
Waving just to say hi
Did you stop?
No, I just drove by
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
I busted a left and I’m heading to the next block
That block was dead

Yo so I continued to a1a Beachfront Ave
Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis
Rock man lovers driving Lamborghini
Jealous ’cause I’m out getting mine
Shay with a gauge and Vanilla with a nine
Ready for the chumps on the wall
The chumps are acting ill because they’re so full of eight balls
Gunshots ranged out like a bell
I grabbed my nine
All I heard were shells
Fallin’ on the concrete real fast
Jumped in my car, slammed on the gas
Bumper to bumper the avenue’s packed
I’m tryin’ to get away before the jackers jack
Police on the scene
You know what I mean
They passed me up, confronted all the dope fiends
If there was a problem
Yo, I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla

Take heed, ’cause I’m a lyrical poet
Miami’s on the scene just in case you didn’t know it
My town, that created all the bass sound
Enough to shake and kick holes in the ground
‘Cause my style’s like a chemical spill
Feasible rhymes that you can vision and feel
Conducted and formed
This is a hell of a concept
We make it hype and you want to step with this
Shay plays on the fade, slice it like a ninja
Cut like a razor blade so fast
Other DJ’s say, “damn”
If my rhyme was a drug
I’d sell it by the gram
Keep my composure when it’s time to get loose
Magnetized by the mic while I kick my juice
If there was a problem
Yo, I’ll solve it!
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla
Ice ice baby Vanilla

Yo man, let’s get out of here
Word to your mother

Ice ice baby
Too cold
Ice ice baby
Too cold too cold
Ice ice baby
Too cold
Ice ice baby
Too cold too cold

We continue the journey through the 80’s in the hopes of finding the stupid dance moves to move me to the 90’s. I warmed up with some songs from earlier editions of Dance Central which were Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance and that stupid Mimomimoaah or something song. Then back to Super Sonic, The Right Stuff and ending with Da Butt. The fact that a song called Da Butt existed at all especially in the 80’s is awesome. Here are the lyrics:

Alright, come on, sing it one time
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Sing, oww
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Ha, ha

Walked in this place, surprised to see a big girl gettin’ busy
Just rockin’ to the go-go beat
The way she shook her booty sho’ looked good to me
I said, ‘Come here, big girl, won’t you rock my world?
Show that dance to me’

She was doin’ the butt, hey pretty, pretty
When you get that notion, put your backfield in motion, hey
Doin’ the butt, hey sexy, sexy
Ain’t nothing wrong if you wanna do the butt all night long

(Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Ow, what you gonna do about it?
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Shake it
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

I took that girl out on the floor
She rocked me from the backside
We did the butt ’til it made me sore
Now, it’s a physical thing, but not hard to do
You just shake-a shake, shake, shake, shake-a shake, shake
Doin’ the butt the whole night through, come on

She was doin’ the butt, hey pretty, pretty
When you get that notion, put your backfield in motion, hey
Doin’ the butt, hey sexy, sexy
Ain’t nothing wrong if you wanna do the butt all night long

That’s right, shake your butt
Come on, gimme that butt, gimme that butt

Tanya got a big ol’ butt
(Oh yeah?)
Theresa got a big ol’ butt
(Oh yeah?)
Irene got a big ol’ butt
(Oh yeah?)
Melissa got a big ol’ butt now

And Sonya got a big ol’ butt
(Oh yeah?)
And Shirley got a big ol’ butt
(Oh yeah?)
Ol’ Tammy got a bubble butt
(Oh yeah?)
Little Keisha got a big ol’ butt, now, gimme the butt!

(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’m gonna drop you lines before we set up
We’re screamin’ at girls with the big ol’ butt, sing it
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oww, I want your butt, that butt, that big ol’, big ol’ butt, oww
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

She was doin’ the butt, hey pretty, pretty
When you get that notion, put your backfield in motion, hey
Doin’ the butt, hey sexy, sexy
Ain’t nothing wrong if you wanna do the butt all night long

Today had us in the Hi-Def 80’s dancing to the tunes of Da Butt, You got the Right Stuff and Super Sonic. I was able to get enough stars but could not get all the special moves this morning. After doing Da Butt 3 times I was about done with searching for the special moves to complete the 80’s. I will do some research and figure out how to beat the level and move on to the 90’s. I can’t wait!

A must say the premise of this game on a meta level is entertaining considering it is a dancing game. There is an evil dance master trying to take over. You are a special Dance agent out to stop him. You travel through time gathering moves. Probably unnecessary for this kind of game but silly enough to be entertaining.

When I first bought a kinect for my Xbox I swore it was becauseĀ  I wanted to see how it was going to work with Mass Effect 3 but that isn’t the whole truth. I picked up Dance Central 1 and 2 when I picked up my kinect and I enjoyed them but only played them a little bit. However when Dance Central 3 came out I was determined to pick it up at some point. Of course the holidays had me playing a lot of other games. Eventually though Dance Central 3 came out on Games On Demand and so I bought it. Technically I bought it twice and hopefully Microsoft fixes the mistake (I’m looking at you Microsoft and your crappy customer service!)

So now that I have a copy I have decided to add it to my new lifestyle changes. Today I began my journey to Dance Central fitness. I loaded my age, height, and weight into the game. Told it I want to do it 5 times a week and guessed at how many calories I wanted to lose. Then I did the intro dances and the 70’s and began the 80’s.

A month ago I started walking to work now that the snow and ice have mostly melted away. It is about the same amount of time to walk to work as it is to take the bus so really unless the weather is really bad I have no good excuse to not walk to work. Now I live in the upper part of Quebec City and I work in the lower part, uptown and downtown respectfully. It really is a big difference and stairs are involved. Stairs are kind of becoming my life. So going from uptown to downtown is easy. Coming home from work is more of a challenge and I admit I take the bus more than I walk it back. My goal is once it really become spring here is to do it both ways. For now I am content with the little bit of extra activity in the morning.

02-stairs

Going from lazy to remotely active comes in baby steps. So for me I started taking the stairs at work instead of the the elevator the same time I switched to Paleo. My company is located in a 9 story building. We have floors 4, 5, 7, and 9. I am currently located on the 4th floor so switching to the stairs was easy. Of course I have a few meetings on the 9th floor. I tried to avoid those meetings at first but now I kind of look forward to them. On a busy day and one full of meetings I travel up and down those stairs quite a bit. It isn’t a lot but I can feel the difference. That is all that really matters to me.
